About the Golden Gate Relay
The Golden Gate Relay is a 190 mile, 12-member team run from Calistoga in Napa Valley, across the Golden Gate Bridge at midnight, to the Pacific Ocean, promoting donation through Organs R Us (“ORU”).
FOUNDED in 1996, Organs R Us (ORU, ORU and Friends) promotes organ donation through athletics. Of 125,000 Americans waiting for transplants, 20 die each day before a donor is found. Discuss your wishes regarding organ donation with your family and register online to be an organ donor.
ORU has generated publicity about the shortage of organ donors worth more than $25 million, supported transplant families facing life threatening illness, provided Transplant Olympics scholarships and purchased computers used to register organ donors online. ORU has no paid executives, officers or directors (Jobs available, salary=$0).
The Walk: 12 member teams walk (2 legs per walker) 125 miles through 28 cities crossing the Golden Gate.
The Run: 12 member teams run (3 legs per runner) 190 miles through 36 cities and across the Golden Gate.
Pledge your support for 125,000 Americans waiting for organs.
